God Almighty first planted a garden; and indeed, it is the purest of human pleasures. -Francis Bacon The St. Helen’s garden club maintains the Memorial garden in front of the Church. This garden is for the enjoyment of parishioners and neighbours as well as its main purpose of providing a favourite resting place for ashes of the deceased. Our gardeners come on Thursday mornings, Spring through Fall, and celebrate when they are all together through their mutual love of gardening, conversation and fellowship. At the end of each session, the group enjoys tea and a snack, usually delicious home-made scones and jam. All are welcome to join in this pleasant activity.
The kiss of the sun for pardon, The song of the birds for mirth, One is nearer to God is heart in a garden Than anywhere else on earth. -Dorothy Frances Gurney
